Family Reunion, Sept. 25, 1926

McGhee’s Mill, Person Co., NC

Long, Zimmerman, Dixon, Clayton

Welcome to the genealogical web pages of Barry Whitfield.  Most of my research has been on my direct lines.  However, as I have found information on other branches of the family, I have included it.  In some cases, I have included data from other researchers which I believe to be sound.

As I began my research, I was amazed at how intertwined the families were.  For instance, brothers in one family married sisters of another family.  Both my maternal and paternal lines can be traced back to John Clayton and Elizabeth Coleman and to Ambrose Long.  Once a friend asked me if I was sure that my family tree had forks; hence the title of this web page.

There Ain’t No Forks On My Family Tree
